Analysis of Gesture to Sound and Sound to Gesture Relationships for Expression Modelling
| Keywords: | Gesture Analysis, Sound Analysis, Mapping, Sound synthesis, Expressivity, Sound Perception, Statistical learning |
The goal of the thesis is to develop a adaptive model for the relationship between gestures and sounds in music performance and music listening. The working hypothesis is that mappings can be derived from the coherence of data sets representing the temporal evolution of movements on one hand and sound on the other. These mapping have to take into account the coherence of the temporal evolution of movement and sound features as well as the recurrence of patterns (or mophological coherence) in both processes.
